August 2021 Conversations & Notes

Our August Community Development Practitioners Gathering was held the morning of August 18, 2021.

Of the topics available we had two great conversations - you can find the full notes here.

The questions explored in each breakout room and highlights shared include:

What possibilities do you see for community development in the coming months?

  • Be mindful of the different levels of comfort due to COVID and think about how we keep things accessible for people while balancing our own capacities.

  • Don’t forget the lessons learned, e.g. about accountability, grief, etc., over the past 18 months and continue to find ways to bring them into the work.

  • We’re navigating new ways of connecting and reaching out to people, but can use existing resources and partnering to do so.

How are organizations providing mental health supports for clients while navigating COVID?

  • Meet people where they are, and prioritize those who need supports most, not just the ‘squeaky wheels’. Remember that the people with the highest barriers are not the ones reaching out.

  • Be open to different ways people want to connect, and use multiple strategies. There are still a lot of uncertainties.

Don’t miss out on the opportunities shared in the notes!

Our next practitioner gathering will be on September 15, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
