Hailstorm 2020 Study: Residents of NE Calgary have your say!
The Canadian Poverty Institute is working with the community to learn about how the June 13, 2020 hailstorm impacted them. This research is lead by a group of people who live in NE Calgary.
As you likely know, on June 13, 2020, Calgary experienced a catastrophic hailstorm that caused upwards of $1.2 billion in insured losses. The purpose of this research is to hear the stories from community members about the impacts of the hailstorm, and learn more about the insurance, community, and government disaster responses. This will help to inform current and future recovery efforts, policy responses and preventative measures.
This project involves the community in all aspects of the project, ensuring community ownership of the project. We have a great group of residents guiding every step of the research.
