Women's Economic Council - Seeking Volunteer Board Members

Volunteer Opportunity: The Women’s Economic Council (WEC) is seeking volunteer directors for its board. WEC is a nationally incorporated not-for-profit organization founded in 2002 with a mission to advance women-centred community economic development (CED) as a means of reducing poverty and improving the lives of women, their families, and communities. Our definition of CED includes social enterprise, co-operatives and mutually supportive self-employment structures that encourage success for all.

Our board has evolved as a hybrid of a working and a governance board that meets once every two months on zoom or by phone and more frequently when required. As a director, you will play a role in leading the organization to fulfill its mission. Our projects are implemented by a team of experienced women with whom the board meets virtually on a regular basis, and in person at least once each calendar year. We are all passionate about the projects WEC takes on and from time to time directors become involved as volunteers in projects that occur in our geographical areas or fields of interest and expertise.
