October 2021 Conversations & Notes

Our October Community Development Practitioners Gathering was held the morning of October 20, 2021.

Of the topics available we had three great conversations, including two rooms on the same question - you can find the full notes here.

The questions explored in each breakout room and highlights shared include:

What creative strategies are professionals using to recruit volunteers during this pandemic, including for online opportunities? (group 1)

  • Factor in barriers in accessibility (both in terms of technology and of space)

  • Be dignity and inclusion-focused

  • Have one-on-ones to understand how they want to connect

  • One of the challenges is navigating motivation to engage online

  • Engaging youth to create their own own webinars or podcasts

What creative strategies are professionals using to recruit volunteers during this pandemic? (group 2)

  • Build & maintain relationships outside of email/Zoom

  • Make it intentional and individual

  • Make it worthwhile so they feel they are a part of something

  • Small gestures go a long way in feeling connected

Post-municipal election chat

  • More work on civic engagement is needed!

Don’t miss out on the opportunities shared in the notes!

Our next practitioner gathering will be on November 17, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
