Practitioners Gatherings in 2020
Last year (2020) we began hosting regular monthly virtual gatherings as a space for Community Development Practitioners - people whose role in community is to encourage and support others to get involved in their communities - to connect and learn from one another.
After a few gatherings, we settled on an Open Space-style way of coming together so that each month the conversations we participate in are grounded in the questions, challenges, and opportunities that are most on our minds at the time. We also developed a collective note taking process using google slides as a way to capture the key elements of our conversations, the key message we want to carry forward, and any resources, upcoming events, or opportunities we wanted our peers to know about and/or share.
These shared notes can be accessed at the links below, and future gatherings will have their notes and information shared here following those gatherings.
To bring the year to a close, we gathered one more time in December with a slightly different focus - reflecting on the successes we had in spite of a very challenging year, and setting intentions for 2021. What emerged is a strong sense of the need to slow down, centre relationship building, practice gratitude, move with intention in our personal and professional lives, trust ourselves and get used to sitting in discomfort, and to have more fun! You can see the notes harvested from this end of year conversation here.
We look forward to continuing to connect and support one another in 2021! If you would like to join our Learning and Action Team to help support these gatherings and explore other ways we can learn and enhance our practice together, please get in touch!
