September 2021 Conversations & Notes
Our September Community Development Practitioners Gathering was held the morning of September 15, 2021.
Of the topics available we had two great conversations - you can find the full notes here.
The questions explored in each breakout room and highlights shared include:
Navigating the uncertainty of Fall.
There is a lot of uncertainty right now, and it is challenging for everyone.
There are in person activities happening, but challenging to get people (especially volunteers) to show up, or even for people to know about the opportunities.
Be consistent, be available. Recognize that people are in different places of comfort. Have conversations.
How do we get community stakeholders interested in engaging in social issues that seem “irrelevant” to their type of work.
We have to get stakeholders to recognize and push past the surface level and actually invest in changing social issues.
Contextualize language and influence understanding to educate stakeholders on their impact/role in advocating and creating change.
Connecting with the right people who can help ‘open doors’ into the right spaces.
Don’t miss out on the opportunities shared in the notes!
Our next practitioner gathering will be on October 20, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
