(re)Claiming Outdoor Spaces for Community: CDLI Meet Up March 31, 2021

For our March 2021 Meet Up, we explored creative ways of (re)claiming outdoor spaces for community building efforts!

We had the privilege of hearing from Tiffany Talen and the team at Knox Presbyterian Church who shared stories from the summer of 2020 of how through partnerships, intergenerational community connections, and tapping into the strengths of the nearby residents they were able to re-frame unused outdoor space for community! Before we signed off we had the chance to hear from others in the audience as to what they have done or plan to do this summer. Be sure to watch the recording to be inspired!

Examples of outdoor initiatives shared by Knox included: 

• an interactive community mural

• activating outdoor furniture, and

• a collaborative painted rock garden installed along a major informal pathway
