What surprises you about what people are talking about?

Do you know what’s going on in your community right now? For many of us, especially those who are rooted in a strong sense of community, we may feel, lately, that we’re not as connected — especially after so much time and distance from our fellow community members. As more opportunities to reconnect emerge, what kind of conversations are you hoping to have? 

We’re encouraging people to ask the question, ‘What surprises you about what people are talking about right now?’ 

The CDLI team discussed why we’re encouraging our network to ask the question. We think this question gets people curious and gets at the assumptions we may have about how people are feeling about their community. 

It’s a question that requires people to really listen to what matters, and be ready to be surprised! 

If you’re asking the question, We encourage you to host 2- 3 people (or more) to see what sparks, but we also want to know how you experienced the conversation. We would love to read your feedback, either in this form or through email.
