February 2023 CD Practitioner Gathering Harvest

By Amanda Palmer

On Wednesday, February 8th we hosted our second gathering for community development practitioners of 2023.

We had three rich conversations with a lot of notes captured!. See our full harvests here or in the slides below.

How do we know we are, and what are best practices for, reaching our communities in a digital age?

  • We need more training for facilitating online and keeping content engaging

  • Digital literacy audits are needed

  • Know your audience! Ensure how you are creating content and engaging your audience is appropriate to their digital literacy

Sustainability in community Development Projects

  • Started with an exploration on how do we define sustainability, because everyone means something different… can apply at a program level, community level, organizational level, systems level etc.

  • Capacity to change, capacity to listen…. create new knowledge all factors to consider

  • “Community is who shows up, sustainability is showing up”

Co-Leadership learning, tips and best practices

  • Perception and sharing together is important. Sharing with your team is important to create comfort and trust.

  • One-on-one connections and communication are key
