October 2024 Practitioner Gathering Harvest - CDLI
On Wednesday October 9th CDLI hosted the tenth gathering for community development practitioners of 2024!
We had four discussion topics for practitioners to choose from and practitioners chose to engage in two of them. See our shared harvest here or in the slides below. If you have a topic in mind that you would like to discuss with other community development practitioners please let us know and we will include it in a future COP date that works for you.
In the share back participants identified key take away/points of reflection that came from the conversations.
1) Are there innovative approaches to systemic challenges (housing, addiction, etc.) that you have seen to work at a community level?
People want to collaborate it is the implementation/how that is difficult.
Networking to better come together around some of these larger issues.
Perhaps CDLI can bring in folks who can speak to how they have found success with big systems change.
2) What strategies can be employed to create inclusive spaces that allow for both solidarity among diverse groups and the preservation and promotion of sovereign/individual cultural practices and identities?
Community is the expert - people are their own experts of themselves and their cultures.
Continue to evaluate how to make changes in organizations and institutions.
Continue the battle - this is a long term battle.
